Whittier council members eye Assembly seat
WHITTIER – Two Whittier council members have pulled nomination papers to replace Assemblyman Ian Calderon, who announced last week he won’t seek re-election next year.
Council members Henry Bouchot and Josué Alvarado pulled papers and have until Dec. 11 to file and become official candidates for the March 3 election.
Bouchot was elected to the City Council in 2018, representing District 2 (north Whittier).
Alvarado joined the council in 2016 and represents District 1, which covers portions of Uptown and west Whittier.
Alvarado’s city council seat is up for re-election next year as well.
Neither Bouchot or Alvarado returned emails from the Greenleaf Guardian seeking comment.
