Whittier City School District extends closure to May 5
WHITTIER — Schools in the Whittier City School District won’t resume until May 5 at the earliest, officials announced Friday.
All Whittier public schools have been closed in an effort to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The Los Angeles County Office of Education recommended that public schools stay closed through the end of April. The Whittier City School District Board of Education voted unanimously to extend the closure and resume classes May 5, although that date could change depending on how the virus is contained.
“We are entirely focused on the health and safety of our students, staff and families,” the district said in a letter to parents and staff.
