Steve Martin comedy now playing at Whittier Community Theatre

WHITTIER — “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” an absurdist comedy written by comedy legend Steve Martin, is in its second weekend at the Whittier Community Theatre.

The time is 1904 and the Lapin Agile is a Paris hangout for artists, philosophers, and neighborhood drinkers.

On this particular night, some big brains are going to collide and the questions of what constitutes genius and how art and science influence our everyday lives will be explored by the bar’s regulars, with some inspiration from none other than Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein.

Shows are scheduled for Nov. 15-16 at 8 p.m., Nov. 17 at 2:30 p.m., and Nov. 22-23 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students, seniors, kids and military.

Audience members are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to a local food bank. Everyone who donates will receive a free treat at intermission.
