PIH Health in need of volunteers and donations
WHITTIER — PIH Health is asking the community for donations, both monetary and in-kind, as it deals with the fast-spreading COVID-19 virus.
“Your gift will provide critical resources as we prepare for the fight,” PIH Health said on its website. “This includes supplies that can protect our patients, visitors and staff, support for operations like our coronavirus pop-up screening centers, expanded screenings at our urgent care centers, and more.”
Donations can be made online here.
On Facebook, a man named Byron Alvarez said he works at the PIH Health hospital in Downey and they are in critical need of resources.
“I’m asking our community if you can spare any N-95 masks, procedural masks, face shields, hand sanitizers, sanitizing wipes, or hard plastic goggles,” Alvarez wrote. “Anything helps.”
PIH Health also has an “urgent need” for volunteers to help with various tasks around its Whittier and Downey hospitals. Volunteers can apply online here.
