Have an old home? Workshop offers free help with wooden windows
WHITTIER — A workshop on how to repair and maintain historic wooden windows will be offered Saturday, Feb. 22, by the Whittier Historic Neighborhood Association.
The seminar begins at 10:30 a.m. at Whittier United Methodist Church, 13222 Bailey St.
Windows are an important character-defining feature of historic buildings. They are often the first architectural element someone notices when a building is seen from a distance.
“Original wood windows are beautiful, and are one of the four truly enchanting elements of architecture including staircases, period doors and door hardware, plus molding and millwork,” the WHNA said.
A representative from Window Restoration and Repair will lead the seminar. Window Restoration and Repair is known for helping homeowners sort through the restoration process through to completion. The company is often referred by city inspectors and by preservation officers throughout Southern California.
The seminar is open to the public and will be held in Room 124 of the church’s Westley Building.
