Gas station’s request to sell beer getting second look
WHITTIER – A Whittier gas station will have to wait a little longer before it can potentially start selling alcohol.
The Shell gas station and convenience store at 14005 Whittier Blvd. applied for a Type 20 alcohol license last year, which would allow it to sell beer and wine for off-site consumption.
The Planning Commission approved the application on Dec. 16. However, the City Council on Tuesday decided to examine the decision at a future date.
The item is expected to return to the council as a public hearing within 60 days.
Shell’s alcohol license was scheduled to become effective today.
